PERENNIALS ALIENSPHERE is an exciting musical journey realized in 2009. The album first appeared on college radio early this summer and has since been re-mastered and will be re-released for fall 09. Hamilton View Magazine 06.25.09 excerpt: Chris Wilson has been making music in this city for years but the musician hasn't been on the local stage as frequently as he once was. Rather than playing live, Wilson has spent the last while sequestering himself into his home studio to perfect the music before taking it to the public. With the new incarnation of his band, PERENNIALS- including Jeff Korstanje on bass and Barry Lewis on Drums- Wilson is excited about coming out of the studio and releasing the new album ALIENSPHERE. The results, an intense rock affair with progressive leanings and punk ethic, something PERENNIALS fans have come to expect but this time out perhaps reaching more closely to the expectations of the songwriter and producer. “I had a bunch of new riffs I had been working on and I decided to try it with a fresh line up. It’s a little progressive yet minimal and heavy and awesome sounding. I think of it as a real album, three men captured in full pursuit of the musical unknown with a minimal sketch to follow. It is important to me to capture the spirit of the song and then hammer the bugs out. The ALIENSPHERE concept revealed itself in the sessions, morphing with the songs as the music was recorded”. PERENNIALS offer a wicked Live performance of ALIENSPHERE to go along with the Album this year. Wilson plans to follow up with ALCHEMY BLUES in 2010 featuring Monica Wilson on drums and some wild unreleased material. The story of PERENNIALS or maybe it is really the story of a musician named Christopher Wilson is an enticing Rock & Roll ride. Now, you may think that you’ve heard this story before BUT anyone who ever made as much heart-pounding music as this man, is already rich and famous. What makes this story unique is that you have the opportunity to affect the appropriate ending to it: This music needs to be heard! Here’s the story: Boy learns to play guitar, writes songs and starts a band. Boy grows up, becomes an awesome guitarist, writes cool songs and has many band collaborations. Boy becomes man, builds a studio, teaches his girl to play drums and she joins the band. They play R&R and delve into other musical expressions. Players join them and leave them and join them again. They experiment with ambient, metal, experimental, pop and punk. The band rocks the local clubs in Hamilton as well as tours out East, played NXNE and other cool shows in Toronto. Chris earns royalties from songs overseas as well as local CD sales and studio production his own and others. Check out the new album ALIENSPHERE, spread the word and expect more great music from PERENNIALS.
