Greetings from Florida!I have written hundreds of songs. All of them are good, and a few are great. None would I consider so-so or subpar, because if they were, I wouldn't have recorded them to begin with. The songs in “Florida Son” are not in the order of best to second-best; rather, some of the better songs are toward the bottom of the order. I dislike making a playlist for any of my albums, because I don't know which songs will be most-liked by the most listeners. So after choosing one of my fans' favorite songs,"My Oreo Addiction" for the first position in this album, I put the rest of the songs together by playing them in random order, and then just adding them to the playlist as they were being played. Nothing scientific. In the past, I had put some of my albums together by taking meticulous care to arrange the songs in the proper order to get the right “flow” or mood. Except one of my albums, for which I just arranged the titles alphabetically—and that became that album's playlist. “Florida Son” contains new recordings of 17 of the songs I've written. Nine of them are so new that they have never previously been on any album. Of course, I don't know which listeners will like which songs; that is unguaranteeable. (Not sure if that's even a word. I don't think it is, but I know you know what I mean.) But I invite you to surf around the playlist, or start by listening to song 1 and then just letting 'em all track. And despite the way this album's songs' order came to be, a good time is guaranteed for those who hear all 17 songs. I had great fun writing and recording them. Mitchell Stone September 1, 2016
