When I moved to Hawaii in 2010 I had no real clue what I would be doing with my time, but I always knew that music would be a part of it. Imagine my consternation when I got here and completely lost touch with my muse. My musical well went bone-dry for almost two years, but then a slow trickle began and I could feel the waters rising. I started coming up with melodies and guitar parts again, but the lyrics still weren’t flowing. I was more than ok with that and adapted the new tunes as background music for a mantra album. I tried to sit down a couple of times and put into words all that I was going through since leaving Texas and getting “settled” in Hawaii, but the words weren’t coming. You can’t force a song into being, so I just relaxed and figured that eventually the muse would return in her own time. As soon as I accepted this, the universe hit me with a thunderclap and the music started streaming in again.
