"Lilian Raquel and Cláudio César Ribeiro's"musical chemistry" in Amarelo Manga truly reaffirms Brazilian popular music as an unending creative source. Drawing from their roots in Pernambuco, the artist and the guitar player create a rich musical repertoire where one can recognise the diferent timbres which make Brazilian popular music a musical genre as universal as jazz." - By Marcos D'MoraisThe panorama of the contemporary Brazilian music that started with Bossa Nova and Tropicalismo has originated several poetical and musical expressions. Verso Preso – the project headed by the singer Lilian Raquel and the guitar player Cláudio César Ribeiro – make an incursion in this tradition. Music and lyrics melt in the reading of composers that figure as their tissue of influences. AmareloManga is a project headed by the singer Lilian Raquel and the guitar player Cláudio César Ribeiro, performers of considerable experience in the wide world music. The record is the result of a work the group develops for several years in the more classical MPB way – voice and guitar – searching, at the same time, for a peculiar sound, either by the arrangements of Cláudio César Ribeiro or by the intense, emotional interpretation of Lilian Raquel. The project profited from the percussion of Brazilian Toni Maresca and the Cape Verdean Juca Mendonça and Portuguese double-bassist Felipe Teixeira in a record that was almost entirely done as “live”, with overdubs only in the participation of guests musicians.
