Special thanks to Mark Anthony for playing bass on “Just to See You Smile” and for my long time friend, Darby Scott, for playing drums on “That’s What Love Can Do.” I did not intend to make a record when I originally set up my small little recording studio. I only wanted an avenue to write and enjoy the learning process of recording. But once I got into the process, I couldn’t stop. It was just too much fun. This record means a great deal to me because up until now, I have always written and recorded with other musicians. It was a challenge to write all of the songs and record all of the instruments (except where I noted above) on my own. It was a great blessing and experience also. I learned more with each song created – more about myself and about this great organic thing called music. This record comes from my basement to you, literally. My small little recording studio was set-up in an unassuming corner of my basement. I used whatever quality instruments I had available. There are no frills, no bells and whistles. I like it simple. I always have. Each one of these songs is from my heart and has special meaning. The lyrics tell a story about my life and my experiences. I hope they touch your hearts as you listen. I am proud of them and honored to give them to you, the listener. I was originally going to call the record “From the Basement,” as it seemed appropriate. But as I was wrapping it up, it became abundantly clear to me that so much of it centered on love or the prospect thereof. Not just love for a mate, but love all around, the good parts and the not so good parts. My love starts and stops with a girl. THE girl. You know who you are. Where does yours stop and start? Enjoy.
