During this time, he completed 52 new original compositions from top to bottom: writing music, lyrics and recording all the instruments. The final track -"I See You When I Dream" - was written over a year later and was the first song Ivan wrote after the challenge. He said he was"creatively and emotionally depleted after [50 Songs in 90 Days]. I had run out of chord progressions and demons to exorcise."These flushed-out demos were then given life by Dan's explosive and powerful drumming. The duo has been playing together since 1999, so they can always anticipate each other's movements. The songs took a while to record and release, since they were already working on their debut album"Post Jobcore" (2013) and then took a break to focus on other projects.But the wait was worth it. They found a great partner in Matt DeSear, who helped capture and craft the sound for the band."Dinner Party for Two" was tracked in 3 days, following a minimalist aesthetic in production."We just wanted the raw basics," said Ivan."There are no vocal harmonies or keys. We wanted to stick to the truest essence of the live band."
