The men of Before the Mast sing sea shanties once sung by sailors as they worked aboard tall ships. These shanties are salty and rhythmical and are sung with the vigour that these remarkable work-songs of the sea demand. The days of the big square-riggers are sadly gone but the old songs that the sailors aboard them once sang still need to be sung so that their spirit can be kept alive for future generations.
