From The Westword:A A A Comments () By Jon Solomon Tuesday, Aug 30 2011 Free Radt co-founder Jeremy Barber has a background in bluegrass, classical and jazz, while singer Katz Romero has jazz roots, and their combined influences make for some intriguing music on Free Radt's sophomore effort, Love 101. For the most part, the album is a collection of edgy hard rock mixed with prog and fusion, sometimes in the vein of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, as on"The Journey" and"Butterfly Ascending," which features some fine guitar and violin playing from Barber. And while there are certainly enough instrumental cuts to appease the prog and fusion contingent, the songs that feature Romero's strong vocals, like the odd-metered"Butterfly" and the slow and sprawling"Escaping the Darkness," are every bit as interesting.
