"Better Than" is a dream come true. But it almost didn't come true. Had it not been for a painful three year transition period and many friends and musicians that God brought into my life during , I'm fairly confident that this album would not have come to be. But thankfully it has.Musically, parts of this album hearken back to my days at Morehead State when I sang and wrote/arranged for the jazz fusion ensemble. (Thank you Jay.) Here you may notice hints of Stevie Wonder, Huey Lewis, James Brown, or Earth, Wind, & Fire. Other songs have a Black Gospel flavor with organ, sine wave synth and all. Lyrically, the words of many of these songs stewed in my head for years, and I would like to think the songs are that much richer for it. Many of these songs were inspired by certain Scripture passages or sermons. I have tried to capture the essence of these passages or books and faithfully render them in poetic/musical form. I pray that you enjoy this album and that through it, you may come to personally know that Jesus is better than, better than, the rest.
