专辑《Miss You Still》 简介
In a quiet hamlet beneath the rocky mountain foothills, blind-from-birth Brian Collins and sighted Sean Waters branded their revivalist, experimental pop duo ‘The Seers’, after contemplating Collins’s extra-sensory ears. Since their inception in 2009, Collins and Waters have forged professional careers as performers -- using their “stunning repertoire” (Coloradoan) of 600+ songs and original singer-songwriter blend of indie folk and alternative rock to create a kind of “walking, talking, modern-day jukebox of musical versatility” (Fort Collins DBA). As prolific songwriters, Collins and Waters have been recording and self-releasing albums since 2010. Their first was an underground, lo-fi EP, titled “Universal Tree,” that the two distributed on home-printed CD-Rs. Two eclectic rock albums followed: “The Seers” (2013) and the more experimental “Cellophane Eyes” (2014). In 2016, after a year of pre-production and collaboration with Danny Kalb (who has worked with Beck, Ben Harper, and Foster the People), The Seers released “Signals,” a five-song EP that skillfully mashes up genres and arrangements that aren’t commonly found together. Influenced by the sonic versatility of Ween and the Flaming Lips, long-time Seers fans see “Signals” as an exciting sign of thing to come. With an expanding line-up and multi-instrumental arrangements, The Seers have played SXSW (2015 Colorado Music Showcase), a string of Colorado festivals, and the best rooms in the Front Range. With over fifty shows scheduled in the summer of 2016, Waters and Collins are not straying too far from their home studio in Fort Collins, Colorado: they’re busy working on pre-production for their next release, due out late 2016. A native of Fort Collins, CO, Waters met Brian Collins at Poudre High School sixteen years ago. They’ve been collaborating ever since. Sean holds a Philosophy B.A. an M.A. degrees in Philosophy and English Education from Colorado State University. Working as a composition and philosophy instructor nine months out of the year, Waters brings his philosophical wanderings to his meditative pop hooks. When Sean is not teaching and gigging, he works in the Seers' recording studio as engineer and producer. He’s also an essayist, photographer and poet whose work can be seen on Instagram as @theseers. From Sean:"Music is a great healer and soother. It's great to be able to sing great songs with great people, and make other people feel good ….. there's so much great music out there -- and we’re still learning so much with every performance and every recording."BRIAN COLLINS: A native of Fort Collins, CO, Brian Collins has been an avid, audacious musician since the age of six. Blind from birth, Brian learned music from his parents: his father taught him to play the drums and keyboard and he eventually also learned tuba, trumpet, bass, guitar, and synthesizers. He now writes and performs on drums, piano and guitar. In 1999, Brian enrolled in a music program at UNC-Greeley, but found the demands of memorizing sheet music in order to"sight read" weren't helping him develop as a musician. Refocusing on studying classic rock and roll, Brian transferred to CSU and recently graduated with a B.A. in Social Work (May 2013) while he was simultaneously being trained at the Fort Collins Piano Bar. He now works professionally as a musician, performing over 130 shows year while producing and writing prolifically.Brian has become somewhat famous with Fort Collins locals for jogging up and down Mountain Avenue. Despite being blind, Brian boldly treks down the street with only a cane in his hand to guide him. This audacity is shown in his style as a performer and a songwriter. From Brian:“With a national radio push and a ton of upcoming shows, I am super-excited for the future for the Seers. Our new EP, Signals, is our best work yet, and we have even better material that we have yet to release…. You know, ‘the future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades’ !! Ha Ha ha”
