So what is MILLAMIX? MILLAMIX is a new solo project I've launched with the main focus on creating original pop music in the sound of the mid to late 80s. influences ranging from Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Howard Jones, Mr, Mister and many more! As weird as this sounds, this album feels more like me than any other album I've released to-date. I hope this taps into nostalgia for the folks my age and older and hopefully pull in the younger generation as well. A little background, so why 80s pop?! I had the fortunate opportunity to be exposed to music at a very early age by my older brother, Robert Miller. He would listen and record on blank cassettes the weekly radio top 40 countdown and educate me on what was hot on the charts. This was so exciting for “little” Stephen that I also decided to record the top 40 radio stations as well. I still remember that radio station here in Austin B93 FM! I would sit up late listening and absorbing and studying the music. I loved it! So fast forward to 2016 and I still love it! It goes to show that you can start writing music in your head before you ever gain the skill and knowledge to produce something for the world. I’m happy to say I’ve finally produced an album I’ve had trapped inside my childhood head since the 80s.
