The Glenn Marais Band are a group of musicians that believe in playing everything live in the studio the same way they do on stage, with power and passion and incredible improvisation and dynamic interplay. The songs are stories and messages of hope, that don't hesitate to question the world and ask for more.•Glenn co-wrote the song “Everybody Wants to Be Like You”, with the artist, “Snow” in 2000. The song was the second fastest rising song in Canadian history, reaching the Top Ten and is currently the fifth most played song in Canadian radio history.• Glenn received a Socan award and was nominated for a Juno award in the best songwriting category for “Everybody Wants to Be Like You”.•Glenn came second in the 2006 Mix 99.9 Canadian Radio Star Contest, with his entry, “Don’t Let Your Love Go”•Glenn is an Ontario Arts Council Member artist and also a pioneering artist with the Artist in Residence program in the York Region District School Board•Drafted and implemented a youth leadership camp for Native Youth across Canada in 2009.•Glenn traveled to Swaziland in 2009 as part of the Heart for Africa foundation to act as music director/composer for an international concert event, Celebrate Litsemba, which featured at risk children performing for other at risk children. He returned in 2010 to Swaziland for Celebrate Litsemba 2010 to be performed in the national stadium for 15 000 at risk children.•In November 2005, Glenn flew to Africa to film a video for his song, “Like a Child”. It debuted on Much More Music on Jan.30th/2006 and reached the number one position on Much More Music’s “Clip Trip” show. On Sunday Aug.13th /06, the video for Like a Child, debuted at the Rogers Centre Skydome for the Toronto International AIDS Conference. On Friday Aug.18th/06 Glenn Closed the AIDS conference with a performance of Like a Child in front of 7000 people, broadcast internationally on CBC Newsworld.•Like a Child was on rotation on AC and HOT AC stations across Canada, receiving rave reviews:•Like a Child made it on to the MUSIC MENU POWER PICK TOP TEN PAGE for “Canadian Network Magazine”•He returned to Cotlands Orphanage in Cape Town, South Africa in 2009 to film and visit with the director of the orphanage. Glenn is raising money to purchase the land for Cotlands to have a permanent facility. He has raised $90 000 to date with his Kids for Cotlands campaign and is working with The Stephen Lewis Foundation and the York Region District School Board to raise one million dollars by the year 2014. •Glenn was selected to write the song for the 25th anniversary of the AIDS Candlelight Vigil in Toronto in June 2009. The vigil is one of the largest and longest running in North America. He composed and sang the song, “Can You See Me.”•Composed the song, “On the Shoulders of Giants”, which was selected for the celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday by the Nelson Mandela Children’s Foundation in Canada.
