Skydancing – Jimmy Phillips (Ryan)Skydancing – “and other recordings I made back in the 80s and early 90s that I forgot about until I found them in my basement the other day” is a collection of blues / blues-rock tunes and songs that I wrote and recorded with friends and local musicians here in Michigan quite a few years ago. They were part of a CD project that didn’t get finished and were stored away and forgotten. After “rediscovering” them years later and giving them a fresh listen, I decided they were good quality recordings of original material and worth putting out there for others to enjoy. Destination Unknown (1995) – jazz-blues tune featuring keyboard great, Dave Cleveland. When I was working the clubs, this was always a great set closer and really fun to play. We Can’t Agree (1988) – We’ve all been there. No matter what you say or do, things just ain’t working baby. Time to move on. Don’t Ask For No Money (1986) – Nothing can end a friendship faster and more completely than a loan of money, even to a trusted friend.Monkey Woman (1996) – Remember the scene in Caddyshack where Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) is watching some ladies play golf?"Oh Mrs. Crane you're a little monkey woman," he says. Funniest movie line ever, in my opinion. Take Me Back to 1966 (1996) - I sure would do things differently, given a second chance, but wouldn't we all? My Blues (1988) – Slide guitar, song about leavin.’ “If I had five dollars, I’d catch that eastbound train.” Skydancing (1995) – This one was once described a “lunar surf blues” tune, but I’m not sure what that means. Blues House (1988) – I wrote this tune for some friends of mine who were in a band called “Blues House” as a set closer for them. They never used it, so I did. Jimmy Phillips (Ryan) – guitars, vocals, mandolin, lap steel, piano; John Phillips – bass, backing vocals on tracks 2,5,8; Melvin English – bass on tracks 1, 7; Mark “Sparky” Dukes – drums on tracks 2,5,6,8; Ben Pompey – drums tracks 1,7; Denny Anderson – drums on track 3, Denny Nelson – harmonica on track 2; Dave Cleveland – keyboards on track 1,2.All songs and tunes by Jimmy Phillips (Ryan).Duplication master compiled by John Stites, Arcardia Recording, Kalamazoo, Michigan, from old CD projects (1988-1996).
