Departing from the sound of their first EP,"Some Truth to This", The Former Me sought to dive into a more technical and modern approach with their second EP."I Know This Gets Better" is the culmination of many experiences ranging from personal experiences to lineup changes. The vocals by frontman Dylan Lahey offer an"angry" spin on TFM's known discography and are complimented generously by Adam Kopchak's intense drum work. Ryan Coyle and Killian Deluca offer a more technical and heavy hitting rhythm section to the mix which is topped off by the melodic modern-pop punk lead style of band newcomer, Matt Grimsley.Lyrically,"I Know This Gets Better" is influenced by the personal battles the band has faced, covering topics such as anxiety, betrayal, and hate. However, the album title itself is a callback to the final track,"Disquiet", which delivers the literal message that all of these battles are conquerable.
