Emilio Tuero aka The Baritone of Argel (Argel was a legendary nightclub in Mexico City) was Mexico's first radio star and one of the greatest singers to grace the Tango genre. He posessed a baritone voice with underlying chiaroscuro elements that lent itself perfectly to Tango. Unfortunately for Tuero, he fell out of grace when Mariachi music came to dominate the Mexican music scene in the 40's.
