专辑《Pierced Eyes (Explicit)》 简介
"Pierce Eyes" is a non-alternative music. This is rock stripped down to its essentials. Ed Downey sings dark, disturbing lyrics over a swirling miasma of guitar-driven rock. While not retro, Years music could have been made anytime during the last fifty years. Rock music is a great medium for well made lyrics. These songs come from personal experience, probably, yours, too. We are living in dark times; there are too many evil, selfish, self-aggrandizing people on the planet, many of whom go unnoticed. The poetics of love, politics and culture form the background of our ideas and statements. This is not music for shiny kids who want only to hear the same platitudes repeated over and over to tunes so pleasing to the ear. Nor is it any kind of attempt to be one or another of the styles of music that have evolved over the years. It's not rap or punk or country or folk. It is an essential rock music which gives birth to lyrics worth listening to. And, by the way, it's music you can listen to for a long time. It's got legs. These are not songs that sound like the same writer's formula. Each is distinct, unique, and we don't make filler. The work is really meant to be heard as a whole unit; we would strongly suggest the whole package and not some sort of 'cherry picking.' Some of the transitions and humor will be lost if the songs are not heard in sequence. If you are serious about music all the way out to the horizon, take a chance.Harlow Crandall of New City Slang says,"It's a band album. The first ["Prisoners in Harmony"] was a vision backed by great players. This one is a collaboration. The tune I can't get over is"Bring on the Dust." I've listened to it ten times tonight. The album is great, not what I wanted, but you gave me what I needed.... This [album] is art."Like I said, take a chance.
