With their third album, The Gold Watch, Memphis-based band Rind Stars delivers a lean set of rock n roll tunes simmering with lived-in honesty. Stripped down to a sextet from the eight-piece band of their last album, 2011's The Not So Great Depression, Rind Stars cut the ten tracks over four nights, live in the studio, with minimal overdubs. Toothy guitars weave in and out of the warm textures painted by creamy keys, brassy horns, and harmony vocals, all of it kept in line by a soul-drenched rhythm section.
