This album started when singer/songwriter Kirk Drager teamed up with lyricist and fine artist Cally Krallman (www.callykrallman.com) and agreed to put music to some of her lyrics. Kirk took a few years to create and develop the 12 songs performed on"Beneath the Starry Sky" album. His musical interpretive skills truly shine in this album that will have you up on the floor two-stepping to songs like"Whiskey Jar" and"Hillbilly Band", and then tug at your heartstrings with his emotional ballads including"Just Think of Me" (about a child caught in the middle of a painful divorce) and"Battle Scars" (a bull riders demise as he is healing from broken bones and a broken heart) which may bring you a tear or two. The Blue Moon String Band, with outstanding fiddle player Diane Gillenwater, Banjo picker and backup harmony vocalist extraordinaire Rod Durst, and improvisational guitarist Jim Campbell, all add a musical and harmonious sound to the album. Kirk also highlights his mandolin skills as well as guitar picking. Cally painted an oil painting also titled"Beneath the Starry Sky" to grace the album cover. Kirk's wife Becky, also an artist, put her artistic talents into the project by designing and laying out the album cover and inside panels. (See Becky's art at www.dragerstudios.com) This album has a blend of bluegrass, country, and a splash of singer-songwriter style that is bound to have you coming back for more!
