Mink was formed in Dayton, Ohio in 1996 and released an E.P. entitled"Mink U.S.A." consisting of five songs that would make up side one of its first full-length release now referred to in audiophile circles as"The Red Album" which has never surfaced in digital format."Get In Get Out" was released in 1998 after the band taken first place the tri-state band competition held by WOXY's 97X radio, soon followed by gigs with Matthew Sweet, The Breeders, Guided By Voices, Varuca Salt and other 90's alternative icons."Get In Get Out" captures Mink in top form, recorded completely in analog at Cybertechnics Studio in Dayton. After taking a short break, they are preparing for a release of a collection of 10 new songs in late 2007.Mink crafts anthemic pop with always catchy melodies, powerful guitars, unexpected changes, sweet vocal harmonies and polished arrangements. However, beneath the beauty lurks something dark, sinister almost. Call it a macabre subtext, but it creates a nice contrast to the band's anglo-infused pop.True to the title, Get In Get Out wastes no time on bullshit. Mink drops 10 pop-rock gems in about a half hour and wraps up the entire affair leaving the listener wanting more. They create something grandiose and majestic without the slightest bit of pretension.A must-have for any true fan of well crafted pop rock.
