Note: With this set o’ songs, I wished to temper my musical pedanticism with a folk simplicity. In the spirit of that genre, I utilized a compositional approach unconcerned with music-theory. Spiritual subjects, personal problems, and even my re-imagination of a historical happening are explored through the course of the collection. Thank you for your interest.Gratitude: Total respect to all the subjects of my inspiration. Total appreciation to all contributors and friends. Total gratitude to Facebook and the Whole Fam. Technical: Recording for the project began during the wee early hours of Monday, August 8, 2015 and finished after a seven hour vocal session ending in the wee early hours of Saturday, February 20, 2016. The seven separate songs were selected from several months of irregular production. Most pieces were recorded minutes after composition. Personnel:Alexander Moss - Vox, Guitar, Bass, Mandolin, Keyboards, Percussion, Sound Effects, Lyrics, Music, Art, Design, Production Ivory West - Vox (1, 2, 5, 6, 7), Laughter Christopher Cheever - Trumpet (1, 2, 5) Kyle Mann - Trumpet (1) No One Of Consequence - Flute (2) Inspiration:Leonard Cohen Brian Eno David Bowie John Cale Nick Drake---About the Songs-'Bread': Inspired by the twelve disciples and their very important task of delivering the Lord's loaves of love to all the starving villages of the world. We can all be disciples, but only if we tread with the right bread. 'Ferdinand': Inspired by Ferdinand Magellan's historical significance in the naming of the Pacific Ocean. I wrote the lyrics circa summer 2012, but only recently has this idea taken its maiden voyage out of my mind. 'Queries / Page': First tracks recorded for this project (early August 2015). 'Queries' addresses the often one-sided nature of inspiration. 'Page' is a personal document that details my memories of one fast and fleeting friendship. 'Pang': Inspired by that ping-pong sensation, that back-n-forth flutter of feeling, that storm of uncertainty and beautiful anxiety and nervous fear that often reigns over unattainable desires. 'Term': Inspired by the pure prick pang of professionalism, by the daunting dilemmas of each new week, and by the uncompromising expectations and unbending command of the an academic study of art. This is a document of artistic struggle.'Hand': Inspired by the Hand of God.'Foot': Lyrics stress the importance and problems of firm-footed convictions. I'd like to thank kind singer-friend Ivory for dedicating so many hours of her time to shaping her voice on this song. In my opinion, her FEETure rescues the track from tedium and really makes it move.
