Following the success of their 2007 release"Red Boats & Blue Skies' pianist Paul Smail and guitarist Dave Stephens returned to the studio to expand their music for a larger ensemble sound. The result, released on CD in 2010 was the"Smail & Stephens Project" which features thirteen original compositions with several guitar and piano duets that hark back to the"Red Boats" album. The tunes reflect the wide tastes in music that Paul and Dave have, from their love of Tango, Latin, Flamenco, Bossa Nova, European, Mediterranean, Smooth Jazz etc etc - with the one thing that is a trade mark of both musicians - catchy themes and melodic solo's. Out of this album Paul and Dave formed the group/co-operative of CON MOTO to perform these tunes 'live', with the first CON MOTO double 'a' side single (Valdes / Moonlit Bay) released in June 2011.Alongside CON MOTO Dave and Paul also produce solo material which will also become available here in the future.
