I love sound. Ever since childhood I have been fascinated by speech as pure sound - as a kid I would flick the volume knob on my radio and listen to the slivers of words that would emanate, devoid of meaning. Chopped up or de-contextualized instumental music sounds great, but our tendency to try to make sense of speech, even as it becomes indiscernible, adds extra intrigue for me. This CD is an adventure in making Enlish a foreign language for English speakers, and the last piece combines instrumental and vocal music as well. For the curious: the spoken parts are people talking about upcoming changes in their church services on a CD I found in a trash can. Have fun with it.
