The 4 movements are all written for chamber orchestra. Movements 1 and 2 are what Lien would refer to as 'modernist.' 'Sacred Circle' is inspired by traditional church music; it is also a romantic piece. The 4th movement, 'Ascent,' must be considered impressionist.
