Manny Capozzi is a Chicago based singer/songwriter/loop artist. Merging acoustic rock with comedic undertones, Manny's first full-length release SOMETIMES IT's FUNNY chronicles his return to the U.S.A. after a 4 year hiatus in Rome, Italy. The album is a perspective on love, politics, food, childhood, and spirituality in America told from a pseudo outsider's point of view looking in. And, yes, the album is funny...sometimes. In 2006 Manny released his first EP entitled TAG in Rome, Italy. The single WHEN BUSH COMES TO SHOVE was featured on Rome's premier rock music station RADIO ROCK headed by Emilio Pappagalo. Manny spent his time in Italy touring and honing his performance skills. Much of the comedic elements of Manny's live show comes from his time in Italy having to entertain an audience that did not understand English. Finding ways to keep the audience engaged and pushing the limits of tasteful lyric writing, Manny's sound has evolved into a unique blend of lighthearted humor, cutting satire, and honest reflections on love and living. Let's Get Fat Together is the first single off of SOMETIMES IT'S FUNNY and the music video features the local Chicago performance art cover band FATALLY COOL. The video pays homage to themes from the 60's to today spoofing the likes of Hairspray, the Partridge Family, The Go Go's, Robert Palmer, Boy Bands, and Grunge.Manny is the host of OUT ROCK PRESENTS at Mary's Attic, a monthly variety hour featuring queer and queer-friendly musicians riffing on common themes or bands. OUT ROCK PRESENTS is every third Thursday. Check local listings for theme nights including Tori Amos Night, 90's Angst Night, Hedwig Night, and featured artist night.
