"Back2theFaith" The Music Video can be seen at www.youtube.com/getalifemusic.Born in Santa Clara, California, the son of an accomplished violinist and the grandson of a LA stage musician, Dave began his music training at the age of 9 when he learned to play the violin. He was 14 when British Bands like ‘The Beatles’ & ‘The Moody Blues’ began performing on American TV & Radio. It was then that Dave traded his Mom’s violin for an electric guitar. In 1967, Dave began a search for a deeper, and more meaningful life. Caught-up in the 60’s culture, “I began listening to music under the influence of mind altering drugs. Even though this took music to a deeper experience, I soon realized I was on a downhill path with a dead end. I was looking for something meaningful in life. I just did not know what it was.” In 1968 with the war raging in Vietnam, he decided to join the U.S. Coast Guard. After returning from New York, he met up with his long time friend Ken Teel. “I could see that he was really different from the last time I had seen him. Something had really happened to him and I wanted to know what it was.” What Ken shared him would dramatically change his life and music. “I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior during a Sunday night church service a few weeks later. I became a new creation in Christ & even as I walked out those church doors the world outside had a new & fresh appearance.” In 1972, after being discharged from the service, he joined a Southern Gospel Group that ministered in churches, in concert, and to those in jails & juvenile hall. They were called “The Revisions,” as the Lord had revised each one of our lives with His Presence. He said of those times, “I saw first hand how music could touch people and open their hearts to receive the Good News of God's Love.” After 3 years of working during the week and traveling & ministering on the weekends, Dave felt it was time to take a break and reflect on a calling he was feeling deep within his own heart. It was in that transition time that Dave began writing songs and music based on his own life experiences, his conversion and relationship with God. A move to Mendocino County, California, brought the opportunity to join the “Majesty Ministries” team, a non-profit organization that produced a weekly radio program and sponsored local concerts & events. “Producing a radio program in the early days of Contemporary Christian Music gave me access to most of the music and artists of that time.” “I guess the one person whose music meant the most to me at that time was Keith Green. I got to see him in concert at “Jesus West Coast” in Santa Rosa. That was just about a week before the fatal plane crash that killed him, the pilot, a missionary & four children, including two of his own. In the summer of 1997, Dave and his wife Bobbe moved to Grass Valley, California. Within a month Dave went to his doctor with a migraine headache and tests revealed the early stages of an incurable cancer called Multiple Myeloma. In 1970, he had been exposed to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam & Cambodia. The deadly herbicide was used to defoliate vegetation along rivers and in the jungles of South East Asia. Agent Orange has been linked to over a dozen serious conditions and illnesses by the the Veteran’s Administration. “The doctors only gave me a few years to survive. I’m glad that there is a Higher Authority. God is in control even when I may not feel like He is. There have been some tough times and treatments, but in many ways I am actually better today than when I was first diagnosed. Our families, friends and many churches have supported and held us up in prayer for all these years. It’s been amazing to be on the receiving end of so much love and compassion & along with God’s grace and mercy we have been sustained throughout this whole this process.”
