What is every musician's dream? Fame? Wealth? Membership into the illuminati? Well, maybe, but those are afterthoughts to the big dream. Every musician who is truly passionate about his or her craft wants to make timeless music. As much as commercial success drives and defines us, critical acclaim is the foundation for a successful career. In a world of cookie cutter music that doesn't dare stray from the radio friendly style it is remarkably brave for an artist to defy the formula. That's what Ether Q has been doing for the past few years now.Ether has been making music since he was in grade school but started pursuing it as a career option in 2009 when he first started uploading homemade songs onto Youtube. He recorded them at home with a basic USB mic and eventually saved up enough to go to a full fledged studio and record better quality versions. He started working on his first album summer of 2011 and released it early 2013 accompanied by a mixtape of his Youtube songs rerecorded. Ether's first album was a darker tone touching on his alcoholic father who was barely around during his childhood, his breakup with a girl he had been with for over half a decade & many motivational songs about overcoming adversity. This would serve as a great entry into the hip hop world. Ether however wanted to diversify and show other sides of his artistic ability. That's when Windy City Diary was created.Windy City Diary originally started as a small EP meant to showcase some of Chicago's best hip hop stars. The songs were so wonderful, however, that Ether decided it was better off as a full length album. He gathered many of his favorite Chicago emcees and created his masterpiece. The rappers on the album range from big names like GLC & Add-2 to upcoming stars like Kidd Tha Chicagoan & NexUp. The songs range from driving around in the summer with the roof gone to Ether's love for his home city of Chicago to summer BBQ's. Of course no Ether Q album would be complete without inspirational songs. The project is 15 tracks long and every minute captures the essence of summer in the city. If you're looking for the next big summer album this is a must have. Whether you live in Chicago or not, this album has an applicable song for you. Whether you like summer or not, this album has an applicable song for you. If you're looking for positive, inspirational music or a summer jam this album has it. So why not give it a listen and help progress hip-hop in a more positive direction!
