"This Rider's Song" is the deepest of all Jeffrey Philip Nelsons works, yet most listenable. His sound is simple with detail but thorough in frequency and sound. Influenced by artist like Chris Isaak, Willie Nelson, and Jeff Lynne, his goal in the recording of this album was to put the sound of vinyl back in the living room. His featured instrument on all songs is the acoustic guitar. Nelson says,"The instrument is the real writer". Although Jeffrey says that this album almost drove him to insanity, the endurance it took to complete and move forward with the final product is an encouragement to all artists doing it on their own.
