Ian Darby began his musical journey early on as organ player and later moved to the piano and acoustic guitar where his love of songwriting grew. Often found playing in the West Midlands with a string trio under the name of Reverie or Reveriestrings, his live performance skills grew with support slots for Miles Hunt and Ocean Colour Scene between 2006 and 2008. Ian's smooth, gruff voice has been likened to those of John Martyn, Ray Lamontagne or Ben Ottwell from Gomez and brought him local success with a live slot on BBC Introducing West Midlands. Following the live recorded Watch the Skies album and the anthemic three song sampler on his 'Love is Home' single, his last few albums The Longest Day, Sweet Soul Man and Down to the River have seen Ian experimenting in his home studio. Down the River captures hazy, indian vibes with lyrics based on some of Bauderlaire's poetry.Sweet Soul Man displays Ian's songwriting versatility under the influence of some of his favourite soul, funk and jazz heroes whilst recapturing his love of hammond organs and fender rhodes. His latest release The Longest Day continues the soul, jazz, cinematic soundscapes vibe. Ian also writes for others and has begun to break into the publishing world with library music written for Touchtones (Tummy Touch) who have been a long time supporter and provider of studio time at the Cambridge studios of Katrina and the Waves' in the past. A creative and versatile songwriter.........Ian loves music.......
