The title track, “Welcome to the Edge” (“Todokanu Omoi”), became a smash when it hit the airwaves as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama Mou Daremo Aisenai (I'll Never Love Anyone Anymore) and went on to become the #1 International Single of the Year in Japan in 1992.Hughes and Roxanne Seeman were five days from departing for Tokyo when they learned their song had been chosen. They flew to Japan to hear the plans in person, then returned to Los Angeles to assemble the album and record “Hurricane.” They brought the tapes back to Tokyo for mastering at Pony Canyon Studios, followed by four days of interviews with the Japanese press.The album features Billie Hughes recordings of original Hughes & Seeman songs recorded by Bette Midler, “Two Worlds Apart,” adapted by The Sisters of Mercy as “Under the Gun,” “The Blue Line,” and many appearing in U.S. television shows. Hughes’ original arrangement of “Welcome to the Edge” was written for the television series Santa Barbara and nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song.The album sold over 120,000 copies in Japan and was distributed across Southeast Asia by Warner Music International.
