This is the debut album from The Beaten Track. North Wales based brothers Andy & Vin Murtagh have collaborated on 10 original songs bringing together Vin’s country fused feel and lyrical content with Andy’s sensitive production. They’re clearly inspired by the American styles of Hank Williams and Townes Van Zandt and the British sensibility of songwriters such as Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello with an energetic splash of Shane MacGowen thrown in. The result is a compelling collection of simple and intimate songs evoking a range of themes and moods in the folk and country singer-songwriter traditions, although their style and personality clearly shines through.
