The Title Song for"Purpose's" debut Album,"Bring Me To The Cross" is dedicated to the Rev. Billy Graham and was inspired by the story he told of a young boy who was lost on a cold and damp evening. When a Constable came upon him, and attempted to take him home - the lad could not tell him where he lived. He also could not recognize any of the landmarks in the village...that is until he saw the tallest building in the Village- a big white church. Adorning the Steeple was a large cross - and when the boy saw it - he pointed to it and asked the Officer -"Please sir, take me to the Cross, and I will find my way home".This was chosen as the Album Title because this best defines Purpose's mission; to do our best through our music to influence society so that people come to Christ and lives are transformed - to bring them to the Cross where they will experience the tenderness of God's grace; finding joy, hope and most of all - the love of Christ. In the spirit of John Wesley, Purpose joins with Billy Graham in considering the world as our mission field!Who We ArePurpose was founded in April, 2006 in the spirit of the scriptures found in Psalm 95: 1-2, Matthew 28, and John 17:22-23.When the founding members of Purpose, all accomplished Musicians from varied backgrounds, came together as a"band" - it was for 1 Concert to celebrate the completion of a Church Program ; Rick Warren's 40 Days of Purpose - thus the name. Advertised as an"All Star Band”, the Artists very quickly realized that this was not reality; that this was not true at all because it was not at all what God had planned for them. The glory was not theirs, but His. In fact, though they did not fully understand the"whys" at the time, they never considered themselves to be a” Band”, rather a Ministry whose “Purpose” was to use the talents that they had been given through God’s grace to serve as Disciples of Jesus Christ.… and that is who Purpose is today, a Ministry and Family of friends; Sisters and Brothers, all great Musician/Songwriters with servants hearts who recognize, receive, and accept, the tenderness of God’s grace from where their gifts have come and have a clear understanding of how God expects them to share His gifts and true reality; His greatest gift - The Cross. Our MissionIt is the mission of Purpose to serve as Disciples of Christ, glorifying not the Ministry, but the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as one; sharing God’s truth and grace...Through words and music that touches peoples’ hearts, souls, and minds and brings positive messages of faith, hope, and love to a hurting world...Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ: sharing His love and His hope; encouraging people and uplifting them through evangelism...Through the unification of the Christian community as one in Christ as He is in His Father...Through connection with the Community and the world, woven into its very fabric as a tapestry providing support and help to those in physical and spiritual need
