When “Radio Thrillz” was first recorded, Tomi Kenn was told to write a radio song with “hit” potential, hence the lyric “Radio needs this, they need a hit song.” Kenn produced, arranged and wrote the entire track which was only meant to be a demo at first. The final version ended up being uploaded via YouTube early August of 2011 and a music video was filmed shortly after. The song is about Kenn’s struggles and determination to succeed within the music industry. Kenn said, “I was recording all these great songs, but no label at the time would give me the time of day.” He stated in an interview with THE CUBE, that the lyrics were written out of “frustration” and how music labels and radio stations were asleep when it came time for Kenn to display his talents. The music, written before the lyrics, is upbeat, with a heavy kick and baseline that contains a mixture of pop, dance and electronic elements. Kenn said, “It’s my ‘I don’t give an F’ in a way because radio does need this, and they will get this—but it’s also a song that a lot of people can dance to.”
