My husband (Chris) and I collaborated on this song to inspire hope and comfort and to remind those who were suffering that they weren’t alone.Chris and I are not strangers to this type of tragedy. Six years prior we were displaced by Katrina and moved to Vermont only to discover that Mother natures wrath knew no boundaries. We knew that we had to deal with potential snowstorms but hurricanes…not so common in these parts.Our experience with Katrina proved that people in neighborhoods and individuals in general are the hero’s during tragic times. During such extreme and challenging circumstances one can truly see the immense compassion of those around us who come together and lend the most support.In the aftermath of Irene, I was called upon to perform for many fundraises. Judging by how people were moved by the performance of Strength in Numbers, we thought that offering a recording of it for a fundraising opportunity could perhaps extend more good. After all, if we are still recovering from the impact of Katrina of over six years ago, Vermonters are most definitely still in the recovering stage, and may be for some time. In addition, with the effects of climate change we feel it is necessary to maintain support of relief agencies that are there for us during times of need. Consequently, Strength in Numbers is now available for download to benefit the (VDRF) Vermont Disaster Relief Fund www.vermontdisasterrecovery.comDuring the start of hurricane season June 1st, through the anniversary of Katrina August 29th (ironically one day following the anniversary of Irene) VDRF will receive all proceeds after distributors fees. After August 29th one half of the funds will be made available to VDRF indefinitely!The only way I can make this effective is with your help.
