Jon Christensen met Gary Emerson, while recording an original wedding song for his niece's wedding sometime in June, 2013. Jon discovered that Gary had put out a Christmas CD. Jon had written a Christmas song called the Eggnog Song and the idea of making a Christmas CD was sparked by his recording session with Gary. Jon talked with Lee Barnum, Dave Jeffrey and Maury Finney about the project and offered to co-write a song with each of them, authoring 5 more original songs. Later, Gary offered to write one and then another with Gail Sondreal to complete the project with a total of 10 songs. The name for the CD came from a comment by Kenny Holweger, who had listened to some of Jon's other songs and made the comment,"Oh, those are good enough to steal." The result of the collaboration is the Christmas Project: Songs Worth Stealing.Jon Christensen is an attorney and received his JD degree in 1998. He attended the St. Thomas choir School in New York City in 1970-71, performing with the Choir at Carnegie Hall in 1971. He has been playing, writing songs and performing since 1974 and has written many songs and a few of those may be worth stealing, as well. He travels between Grand Forks, ND, and Sarasota, FL, teaching online business law, criminology and computer courses as an adjunct professor for Park University. Gary Emerson is an accomplished Keyboardist that started classical piano lessons at age seven and soon played by ear. In 1975, he recorded two albums for LSI in Nashville, “The Fabulous Fifties” and an all original “I’ll Be Waiting For You” country album. He has had his own bands and played with other bands, travelling throughout the Midwest and California. His most recent CD’s are “Fifty Years of Rock and Roll,” “My Favorite Instrumentals” and “My Favorite Christmas Instrumentals.” Gary was also inducted into the Minnesota Rock/Country Hall of Fame. He currently owns Gentilly Music Publishing/BMI, operates a recording studio and still plays live shows and record music.Maury Finney is an accomplished saxophone player, with the honor of being named Top Instrumentalist in Billboard, Cashbox and Record World National Trade Magazines in 1977 and 1978. He has charted more released songs on the Top 100 singles charts than any other Country Instrumentalist. His album “Sax Life in Nashville” also went Top 50, during the same time. Maury was also inducted into the Minnesota Rock/Country Hall of Fame. He still plays live shows and records with his Alto, Tenor and Soprano saxes.Dave Jeffery is an accomplished, actively performing, drummer who released a top 40 hit, “You Rule Me,” while a member of the rock band, The Cornerstones. Known for his proficiency in a variety of musical genres, he has backed many bands, to include The Coasters, The Drifters and The Platters and worked with Country music legends Mac Davis, Jimmy Dean and Johnny Lee. Dave currently resides in Grand Forks, ND, performing and providing private lessons on the drums, congas, bongos and vibraphone. Lee Barnum is an accomplished, actively performing guitar player, who has been playing professionally since 1972. Known for his proficiency on both acoustic and electric guitar, he toured the country for over 10 years and worked in Las Vegas, Minneapolis and Nashville and has an associates degree in electronics. Lee currently resides in Grand Forks, ND, performing and providing private guitar lessons at Kenny’s Music.
