This album explores the function of different objects. The core of the music is the metal spring, displayed on the album cover. Once, this spring was inserted in a human body (to be more precise in the skull) and had a certain function. When the metal spring was removed it lost its function and became just a piece of stainless steel in a plastic jar. How could this object be used in music? Could it take on a different function? One of the ideas was to use it as a percussive device; this worked well and it could be used in multiple ways to produce interesting sounds. As a flutist, I also wanted to change the function of the instrument as it is, perhaps, conventionally known – an instrument with a beautiful tone soaring above the accompaniment. Thus, I opted to use extended techniques. At this stage, the music could still just have become flute and percussive sounds; purely acoustic. To alter the function further, I chose to use different effects both to the percussive device and the flute.
