Queensbury Rules debut album fell through the bunker post box today, cheers Neil mate, and having listened to it with absolute jaw-dropping horror, I felt there was no option but to take it on the chin and just fess up! So here goes! This band of West Country/Welsh urchins, these bloody upstarts from the dark side, the far side of old Blighty, have only gone and recorded an album they had no fucking right to record, not bloody yet anyway, not for a good few years yet, what the f**k are they playing at! The bastards take our debut album and wipe their west country arses with it the cheeky beggers! Not only is their sound really bloody powerful and polished, but their musicianship is outstanding, they are solid throughout, but worse, these fuckers can really write a tune! I was foot-stomping and air-drumming right from the off and what really pissed me off is that you could take sections of some of the songs and sell them as Iron bloody Maiden, the music sounds that bloody good! I aint bloody happy!Seriously though, this is a ridiculously good debut album. I love it, it ticks all my boxes, it's powerful, tight and they like to delve into British history for lyrical content and they do it well, so what's not to like? The tracks that jumped out at me after one play, and this could and probably will change as I get to know the album, were 'Get the F**k Out,' 'Rorke's Drift,' 'Return to Agincourt' and the last track 'Bristol Elite,' which I expected to be nothing more than a local firm rough and tumble ditty that I was expecting to skip past after thirty seconds but turned out to be a really catchy tub-thumper that demands to be belted out at full blast. All in all Queensbury Rules have created a monster and the question is can they better this in the future, because if they can't, well at least they can sit back and enjoy the fact that they've recorded a top notch album, but if they can better this, then this band is gonna be absolutely massive and could well lead the charge of the new order of Oi! You would be mad to let this album pass you by!Pete - Skinhead Bunker
