This is described as a solo album, but nobody stands alone and unaffected in this world. My thanks to all those who shaped the thoughts and ideas that went into the lyrics. Thanks to those who encouraged my interest in music. Thanks to those who make the effort and take the time to listen to the results.The songs on Guilty as Charged were written between 1994 and 2000. The album was recorded in September 2000 at the PMC (Plymouth Musician’s Co-operative) Studios, Cattedown, Plymouth, England. The recording was to a very tight budget and took two days, including the mixing. John Paul is featured on the album playing didgeridoo and hand percussion. I asked if anyone knew anybody who played hand percussion and after one phone call we met up the day before recording began and went through each song. His fee was a late night Indian meal after the recording was completed. He is one of the gentlest men I have ever met. He had an instinctive feel for what I was trying to do and his response to my music was effortlessly authentic.I gave discs away to anyone and everyone I could think of who might nudge me towards my objective of becoming an established professional singer/songwriter. Not one single seed germinated and I slowly stopped doing what gave my life that extra dimension. I got a day job and the guitar gathered dust in one corner of my living room. I felt sad rather than resentful.In 2007 I discovered a virtual world and was made aware that they feature live performances from musicians all over the globe. I downloaded the software and found a completely new way of presenting my music to a literally global audience. I fell in love with my music all over again. People were paying attention and enjoyed what they were hearing. I found the audience I missed the first time round. I realised that “getting it out there” was the next natural step. I have hopes and wishes, but what happens next is beyond my influence.
