Born on the 25th of May 1980, in the historical province of Moyen-Ogooué, whose capital city is Lambaréné,the center of the Gabonese Republic; Henriquez Roland Pounah Nkorouna is a young singer, writer, composer and arranger of music.Music has been his vocation and passion from the primary years of his life. He has thus participated in the making of many music records of his friends.His passion for his home culture led him to integrate in the mid 90s the dance troupe “Tandima” of Vickos Ekondo, a well known gabonese singer. Quickly, the then under 20 young man, who knew very well that he vowed a greater love to singing than dancing, though he comfortably fits in the two boards, will quit the Tandima and will, along side some other young gabonese men and women, contribute in establishing the fan club of Patience Dabany (Diva of the gabonese music and former First Lady of the country for years), his role model in music. She means a lot for him in that aspect. He finally got the opportunity to record with her in the studio.In the years 2000, his musical life is faced with a new challenge; the young man, aged only 20, must depart his home nation to engage in a professional life outside. The call of duty for the nation begins? Yes.During a decade, he will set aside his passion and work hardly to further perfect his studies and serve his country’s interests, though he kept on writing songs and composing music. But at the end of the year 2009, he decides that enough is enough and calls himself off duty to go back to music; and this time, for good! The singer describes his music as being a ‘universal’ one. He sings love, hope, unity, respect of Human Rights, gender equality, fear of God and denounces every injustice, when observed. His genres are: World Music, POP. RnB, Dance, Reggae, Soul, Funk, Gospel, blues, African music of modern expression and African music of purely traditional expression.His main objective in his career is to defend and fight for women and children's Rights at all times and support their emancipation. He is an activist who is Well known for his ever outspoken attitude, when it comes to saying the truth to whoever deserves to hear it, he is described by some as the ''Mr. No fear'' of this age.‘‘Trust’’, his first official single recorded in 2010, is a song released to support the cause of children in difficult conditions of living around the globe. The proceeds from the sales will go for helping some orphanages. With it, he marks his official return to the musical world. The singer promises a great deal of good records to his fans and admirers in ages to come. Watch out for that!!!!Professionally, he has had a rich experience over the years, including a diplomatic career at the highest level, before going back to music recently. He has also undergone some professional trainings in computer sciences/engineering (another of his passion), radio presentation techniques with Radio France Internationale and the French Co-operation amongst others. As a multilingual person, he speaks a few African patois, English, Spanish, in addition to French, the official language of his country Gabon, and enrolls now for Czech language. Man of several potentials, Pounah’s personal and favorite quote is: ‘‘if we want a change in our lives, we should really work hard to make it happen. If not we will forever make it prisoner of our weaknesses’’.As a writer, he is presently finishing the writing of a motivational book to be published soon.When out of stage, he take a delight in computing/browsing, cooking, sporting, traveling, writing, Percussionning, Playing squash, planning for his charity projects for children and how to better be of support to women in need around the globe.Roland Pounah Nkorouna was born of Joseph Nkorouna (a career diplomat) and Rémenga Amélie Grace (a state civil servant of the health ministry).
