Bio: Ed Kostek is a Massachusetts native, multi-instrumentalist and composer. In contrast to his multi-genre 2007 release entitled Dichotomy, Ed strives for a more cohesive mix of tunes in The Standard Deviation, with recurrent themes of loss, heartache and general frustration. Without being dubbed a complete control freak, all songs and lyrics are written/arranged/ recorded/mixed by Ed, in addition to performing all instruments/vocals/midi programming/etc heard on the album. Ed currently gigs primarily on trombone with a Vermont based club band; subbing on bass, guitar, banjo and mandolin as needed. In addition to his musical aspirations, Ed completed his doctorate degree in physical therapy in 2005 and practices in an outpatient hospital setting with a clinical specialization in orthopedics. He is also the clinical director for the Special Olympics Massachusetts’ physical therapy program and is a former adjunct faculty member of the University of Massachusetts in anatomy & physiology and cadaver dissection.
