Berlin-based Philipp Priebe delivered his debut album ‘The Being Of Beautiful’ five years ago via Japanese imprint IL Y A, following an extended hiatus he made a welcome return in March of 2020 with the launch of his new label Stólar and new material from himself alongside a remix from Kim Brown. Here we see him continue from the inaugural release’s success with four fresh original cuts, part 1 aimed at the dancefloor while part 2 leans towards a more home listening aesthetic.Opening Part 1 is ‘To The Dawn’ with its hazy atmospherics, choppy bass hits and robust drums all dynamically unfolding across six minutes before ‘Silhouette’ takes a more slowly blooming approach fuelled by tension building strings, airy chord sequences and twinkling pianos alongside acid-tinged bass and organic percussion.
