We recorded this album at my home studio in Haskins, Ohio. on Protools. We flew in Bryce from Brooklyn and we played one gig on Saturday to pay for his flight.. Thursday to Sunday, show Saturday, ..Sunday morning, after a a great breakfast, we set Bryce up in the garage overlooking the farm fields and hand-moved the studio outside. Both garage doors open, sun shining, kids running around, Bryce laid down 2 tracks each of Bass on each song in like 45 minutes (at this point I just had a scratch vocal track and one acoustic guitar track down). Then we got in a van and dropped him off in Detroit. So I had acoustic guitar and scratch vocals and DUB bass lines! AJ entered the equation, and started with the harmonica on O'Mary and guitar and back vocals. Aj and I eventually took serious time with mixing and spent many late nights with ear phones on, ripping the new levels. In the meantime, I decided to get a drum tracks down. For the recording, I limited myself to (2) mics to get an ole school sound, and I forced myself to have to push record and then have to run from the terminal about 6 feet to get behind the drums, then put on my headphones and hopefully got into the vibe with the 'tape' running... It took a couple of tries, but i got a solid drum rhythm track down. Then, Ryan came over on 3 occasions and totally destroyed the keyboard takes (Ryan and I have been playing together live for 4 years). I just pushed record and watched Ryan take it to the next level. Josh, between his world travels, came into town 4 times to lay down percussion down for the songs (from Indiana and New York and Egypt - now Antigua) and we spaced out recording sessions in between our gigs that Josh would drive into Toledo to play congas with. He would drive 4-10 hours to play (on short notice) for a gig and show up Thursday night and usually leave around Sunday. Sometimes, we would convince him to stay until Monday and we would then record some percussion tracks after the sun went down. At the end of all the recording, we felt we were missing something from the mix, and by coincidence Roman called and I told him what the project was and he was in the studio the next night night and ended up playing on all songs with electric leads and solos on my Gibson guitar and late night pizza. So in all, I was lucky, all the players involved on this project made great effort and some no effort at all. Enjoy and Peeeeaaace!Kent
