The CD Prodigal Son is a Christian CD that has an Old Time feel. A collection of songs gathered at various festivals in central TX along with a classical piece and two of JudyAnn's orginals. They were joined by Dan Ryan, lending his vocal harmonies and mandolin on several tunes. The hope is that the sweet spirit of these songs will call back the Prodigal that lives in us all.Ken n JudyAnn are Texas artists that have been performing as Bear Creek WILDERNESS since 2007. Ken has a warm smooth voice with a touch of Texas gravel. He is gifted on his acoustic guitar, plays mandolin, Irish whistle, bodhran, banjo and hammered dulcimer. JudyAnn, his wife, lends her voice, plays bodhran, handles percussion and has a unique singer-songwriter style. Now and then she plays mountain dulcimer, mandolin, ukelele or harmonica.They began entertaining at music festivals, community events and Churches in 2001. They became Bear Creek WILDERNESS after moving to the edge of the Texas Hill Country."We live right on Bear Creek, surrounded by wilderness and wildlife." Together they perform music with echoes from the past, mingled with the present at a variety of venues.Ken is a native Texan who began guitar at his Grandma's knee. His past is very colorful, from homeless teen, to Navy, to biker, to Pastor, to engineer but always a musician. JudyAnn also has a colorful history. She went from car sales, to traveling stunt show, soldier to medical field and raising kids. But she has been singing all of her life.Ken and JudyAnn have asked folks over the years"Who do we sound like?" The answers have been all over the map. Ken has been described as sounding like Glen Campbell, Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver, and Roger Whitaker. JudyAnn has been likened to Sandy Denny, Mary Travers, Mama Cass and Karen Carpenter. Their sound is eclectic and may best be described as Americana. Recently, a local industry insider reviewed the CD Prodigal Son. She described it as a rare gem that captures the energy of their live performance, commenting on how difficult that is to accomplish. She went on to say that it flows well and and the wonderful vocals make it an excellent product.
