Live Forever Die Forever is an album with an arc. The opening songs provide the dopest of beats which incorporate elements of electronic music while also hinting at reggae and afro-pop influences. As the album progresses, the songs become less about the party-life and more about existence in a fragmented, digital society with an emphasis on acoustic instruments. In case you didn't know, Colorado has legal marijuana and the opening track Colorado Vacation offers listeners some worthwhile advice on the track such as,"The local grocer is great for a vacation / You can go nuts for doughnuts without hesitation" while also borrowing a line from LCD Soundsystem,"Bus it downtown if you're not scared of people / Dance yourself clean dance 'til you're feeble."Metadecay starts out as a lyrically cryptic punk song which takes a strange turn into a fourth-wall breaking spoken-word story about a lover contemplating suicide. Grippin' is a socially-conscious wake-up call to the currently dwindling middle class so often attached to illusions that divide portions of the population which might otherwise share political goals, and the rhymes are pretty sick. Perchance is a multi-part rock song encouraging individual freedom and proposing what the afterlife might be.What is It rallies against the materialism that defines much of the rap genre offering a nearly buddhist approach toward the discovery of truth. Richness feels like electronic gospel music for the people who don't want to go to church to be redeemed."Let yourself thrive. Be your own benediction."Wishes is a soft whisper begging for some kind of certainty in an uncertain world."I wish I were infinite," an inward mantra acknowledging the limitations of being human. Promise Me a Lie offers fragmented images of love gone wrong. The real question is whether the love or the lie of the story is for a person or faith itself?Live Forever is a slow burner of a soul song featuring a single wavering vocal track begging for freedom from immortality. Line of Credibility is a bittersweet plea for unconditional love in the face of never-ending self-interest.On the whole this album is grappling with the most challenging questions of our existence. Listen for yourself and think about what your answers are but be careful because they might live forever or die forever.
