Damon Dotson is an Iowa based singer/songwriter. Dotson, who grew up in Okoboji, IA has definitely earned his acclaim from his humble beginnings. He began his career by playing backyard parties, graduations, birthdays, living rooms, and just for his friends! He first began gaining traction by playing local bars in his hometown during the summer months. With this momentum he recorded his first demo cd recorded at a friends studio which was mainly used for radio ads and jingles. The album then began to catch on mostly at Iowa State University as Dotson first began to get his own college following. With songs like"Good night" and"Summer Days" his fun summer attitude was infectious even more so during his live performances!“It’s normally packed, but for a Damon Dotson show; we’ll draw full capacity,” said one club manager in Ames, IA. Damon is versatile in his performances and songwriting by performing not only as a solo acoustic act, but also with his full band. One reviewer from the Des Moines Register wrote that he has, “the curly locks of Jim Morrison but more of a warmly romantic sound that veers between Dave Matthews and Coldplay.” Damon made the move to Nashville in 2012 to discover more music and further delve into his artistic thumb print and vision. The music city was a great experience for Dotson as he not only held weekly spots on some of the best writers nights but also performed at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Nashville. With the experience gained in Nashville, Dotson now resides in Des Moines, IA and continues to write, record, and perform all throughout the midwest. Damon is currently working on his third studio album in Des Moines. To this day, Dotson has put out one demo, two full length studio albums, and one live album. He has been able to continue his career for over 10 years with no outside assistance of a booking agent, record label, or management. Damon has played top venues in Minneapolis, Mankato, MN, Omaha, NE, Okoboji, Ames, IA, Cedar Falls, IA, Chicago, IL, Moline, IL, Iowa City, IA., Des Moines, IA, Sioux Falls, SD., and Sioux City, IA. Damon has continued to add more and more venues and diehard fans that are known to sing every word along with him at the shows.
