Alice in WonderlandChildren feel the raw energy of emotion and the direct tools of language openly. They construct meaning, they feel, they communicate. Giving things meaning happens little by little. The universe of Alice in Wonderland combines the symbolic, the imaginary and the real, the absurd and the logical, a multiplicity of senses... Nothing is imposed from the start. The spectators themselves shape what they are going to take away from it. Alice in Wonderland is a unique opportunity to find meaning on one’s own. To delay analysis. In an original and unusual manner. Being open to playing the game.Alice invites listeners to travel down an imaginary path. Its music “tells” what the text doesn’t “say”. All the performers in the piece “tell” Alice’s story. The comedian and the musician manipulate Art, Space and Time. The piece revisits and reinvents our habits of traditional listening. Immediate sensations dissolve as the listener begins to dream. The staging is minimal, acccompanied by a surprising play of lights, allowing the spectator to project images virtually, to create realities propitious to the most wonderful of dreams. With this piece, I hope to show that we shape the meanings that we attribute to things during a show, regardless of our backgrounds and our ages—like a tapestry of connections between the stories of the spectator, the performers… and Alice. As receivers we are also creators: in Alice, the listener, the performer, and the creator all become one.Florent Nagel
