Other Realm Music presents Dylan Patrick Smith and his return to his piano roots with his third solo album,"In Some Kind Of Light". Combining elements of classical, jazz, contemporary, and free form improvisation,"In Some Kind Of Light" has become Dylan's most expressive album to date. Each piece is like an emotionally charged journey that gives an intimate and personal glimpse in the world of Dylan's piano playing. Showcasing the endless creativity and expressiveness of every note, each of the the ten tracks become a story, a narrative, if you will. Dylan uses the piano to weave a tapestry of sounds that friends and fans have grown to love over the years. With both classical training and extensive jazz studies Dylan Patrick Smith is an artist who uses the piano as a means of outward expression: Long sustained chords, complex harmonies, simple melodic passages, and clever time signature changes all embrace one ideal: Pure musicality. 'In Some Kind Of Light' continues the tradition of using improvised ideas and themes to develop a final satisfactory piece of music. Some notable selections: The Japanese animé inspired piece, 'Farewell, My Sweet Natsumi' tells of a lover saying goodbye to his companion one last time. It was the very first piece written for this new album and was written as an homage to the composers of anime films directed by the legendary Hiyao Miyazaki. 'Return To Lindley Park' was written as a follow up to 'Winter In Lindley Park', from his 2007 debut album, 'Poetry' and invokes a state of positivity and paints a picture of hope and joy as the listner returns to this place that was once under a blanket of snow. 'As The River Flows' was inspired by seeing films and videos of the mighty Colorado River flowing endlessly and meandering in and around the Grand Canyon. 'Midnight Romance' gives the impression of two people exchanging glances and then slow dancing under a full moon.Recorded over a six month period at his Norfolk, VA studio,"In Some Kind Of Light" is Dylan's best recorded and most expressive album to date. Other Realm Music is proud to present this collection of intimate, personal acoustic piano music as performed by Dylan Patrick Smith. Sit back, relax, and let the music take you places...
