Music from the South is quite different from music from the other parts of Thailand. It is influenced by the Indian music across the Bay of Bengal and the sound of the waves between. Southern Thailand is unique in that it is the narrow peninsular stretching from the main land of Thailand to the bulging tip of Malaysia. The two sides of the peninsular are two different oceans. On the eastern side is China Sea of Pacific Ocean that brings in the music from China, and on the western side is the Indian Ocean that brings in the music from India. On the north there are Burma and Thailand that have music of their own. So now you can imagine that the music of Southern Thailand is properly one of the best blends in the world.
