The tracks on this CD contain the winning songs, choruses and cantatas from the 2011 Longfellow Chorus International Composers Competition. Since 2008, The Longfellow Chorus has premiered a remarkable 61 new song, choruses and cantata settings of Longfellow’s poetry (counting individual poems). Some of our winners are composers who are just finding their feet; others are seasoned professionals hoping to add a feather to their caps. Several of our winners have subsequently been published by substantial music publishing houses. All have been inspired to create music from the poetry of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, born in Portland, Maine, on February 27, 1807.
