"They take a classic blues, do it up their way and you've got a new appreciation for that song, like you never really Heard it before," said one of their fans. The lead guitarist, Bob Benoit is one with his guitar. People actually line up just to watch his fingers slide across the frets. That flaming red guitar mournfully transcends the cry as it tells his story of the blues. Bob has been in bands as a young teen since the 1960's starting on bass. In the 1970's he was the lead guitarist of a popular band called N-Zones in Burlington VT."These people are not young but you wouldn't know it to hear the energy in their music. Their ages range from one in their late 40's, one in their late 50's, 62 and 65. They have a certain special sound that can't be imitated.Cathy Tudhope the vocalist can sing all types of songs. She comes from a music appreciating family, her father would say"sing girls" and so Cathy and her sister Debby were always singing. Her smokey vocals goes so well with Bob's guitar. She really bends those notes often closing her eyes and losing herself in the music. She can be deep one minute and sassy the next, now and then she will surprise you with a growl, people seem to love that. Cathy smiles while she watches Bob on his break which she says gives her more momentum coming back. The band really offers up a soulful-lifting melodic and rhythmic substance. They feed their audience as well as each other in each song."Benoit does all the music arrangements. He is our musical genius," says Tudhope."He hates it when I say stuff like that but it is true, as true as Bob being very modest"."If I am excited about a song he just drops my jaw when he gets his hands on it, it's magically transformed". Also providing his own melody and that feel/rhythmic back-beat, is Bob Greenlese, percussionist. His metrical taps naturally links the other band mates tightly together. It's obvious the Little Island Blues Band enjoys what they play and enjoy playing together. They love playing out and while entertaining themselves they bring the crowd along... that's the gravy!
