ÆMPIRE formed in early 2013 with the goal of creating a fresh, encompassing, sound. With members from the Southwest to the Northeast, ÆMPIRE offer a unique perspective on contemporary music.Their debut album"Realms" pushes a conceptual flow laden with detuned guitar work and infectious leads, surrounded by synth pads, syncopated drums, thumping bass motifs and lofty vocals appropriately harmonized. ÆMPIRE demands attention from the listener with plenty of natural sound and layered effects – and yet maintains a simplistic enough approach to keep the layman listener entertained.From Alternative to Indie and Electronic: it is truly a sonic treat with something for everyone. One listen and it’s clear the bands’ influences are wide ranging from Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Grizzly Bear, Alt-J, Mogwai, Aphex Twin, Brian Eno and on to heavier outfits such Incubus and Isis. Their first single, “Crystal Eyes,” is only the tip of the iceberg. With a unique approach to instrumentation, up to and including a string arrangement; look for other tracks to welcome further attention to this new outfit. There’s the heavy yet dynamic “Novae,” the cinematic-inspiring “Sonic Boom” and the electronic dance number “Dead Ends.” Sound comes first, but ÆMPIRE have plans to branch out into other mediums.
